Service interruptions have many different causes. Sometimes a problem is transient and may have been resolved if you try again after a few minutes.
If the Library is aware of problems that are affecting access to online library resources, we post service advisories on the Library website and on Twitter. You can also check the IT services advisory to see if there are problems known to be affecting the VIU computing network.
Another tool that may be of use is: Down for everyone or just me?
For mac users, incompatibility with the Safari browser is frequently a source of difficulty. A solution may be to try accessing Library resources using Firefox or Chrome instead.
If problems persist, please contact us with details of the situation. It is helpful to know:
- the time of the incident/s
- your computing platform (mac vs. windows, which browser)
- the text of any error messages that you may see
